The House called for U.S. oil firms to leave Libya.

The House bill would compel five U.S. oil companies still in Libya to cease their operations and leave the country by the end of the month. The measure, which applies to Amerada Hess, Conoco, W. R. Grace & Co., Marathon Oil and Occidental Petroleum, was approved without opposition on a voice vote and sent to the Senate. President Reagan already has signed an executive order calling for the five firms to leave Libya by June 30, but Rep. Mel Levine (D-Santa Monica) said the House bill would mandate compliance and rule out further loopholes in the deadline.
