Gene Strebel was appointed a vice president of quality assurance for ITT Gilfillan in Van Nuys, a subsidiary of ITT Corp.

Strebel was previously director of quality assurance for the ITT unit. Strebel replaces Robert Giardini, who is now directing a group preparing a proposal for a major contract for the division, said Brian Eden, an ITT spokesman.

ITT Gilfillan also named Peter M. Canepa, formerly the director of program development, to be vice president and director of business development. In that capacity, Canepa will take on some of the responsibilities of James E. Howard, president of ITT Gilfillan, who had been working in that area for more than a year, Eden said.

ITT Gilfillan develops and manufactures electronic devices such as radar surveillance systems and air traffic control equipment.

Green Tree Capital, a North Hollywood merger and acquisitions firm, has named Robert H. Johnson executive vice president. Before joining Green Tree, where he will be responsible for business development, Johnson spent 15 years with First Interstate Bancorp in executive posts.
