Artukovic’s Lawyers Appeal Death Sentence

BELGRADE, Yugoslavia —
Convicted Nazi war criminal Andrija Artukovic has filed an appeal of the death sentence against him handed down last month, the Tanjug news agency reported Wednesday.
The agency said that Artukovic’s three lawyers appealed on the grounds that his guilt was not proved at the trial and his age, 86, and poor health made him unfit for trial. They requested a retrial.
