A British airliner was forced to abort a planned landing at London’s Heathrow Airport today after a Turkish deportee escaped from another jet and ran onto the runway, aviation officials said.

Britain’s Civil Aviation Authority said the man, who left a British Airways flight bound for Istanbul moments before its doors were due to shut, was spotted and air traffic controllers ordered the arriving plane to bypass the airport. The arriving plane, a British Airways BAC 1-11 from Belfast, made another circuit over Heathrow and landed safely. The escapee, who was found to have entered Britain illegally, was apprehended.
