GOP Leader Visits Pope

VATICAN CITY —
Frank J. Fahrenkopf, national chairman of the U.S. Republican Party, had a private audience Thursday with Pope John Paul II, the Vatican announced. Fahrenkopf was accompanied by his special assistant for Italy, Enzo De Chiara.
