The Cincinnati Reds have hired a Cincinnati soft-drink bottling executive as the ballclub’s vice president of business and marketing.

Don Breen, 34, the former chief operations officer for the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Cincinnati, has been placed in charge of the Reds’ business operations and will report directly to Marge Schott, the Reds’ majority owner and president, the team said in a weekend announcement.

Breen succeeds Roger Blaemire, fired by Schott the day before the season opener because he allegedly made business deals for the National League team without her authority.
