GM won final approval for an Egyptian plant.

The company said it received approval from the Egyptian government for a $30-million joint venture to build cars in Egypt, which company executives described as a major step toward expanding its activities in the Arab world. GM, which will own 30% of the new General Misr Car Co., plans to use existing Egyptian manufacturing facilities to build two small cars designed by its West German unit, Opel AG.
