Heat in India Kills 46

NEW DELHI —
At least 46 people have died during the last week in a heat wave sweeping northern India with temperatures soaring up to 116 degrees, the Press Trust of India reported Tuesday.
Most of the deaths were in Punjab and the desert state of Rajasthan, where blinding dust storms and heat stifled normal life. Officials said that many of the victims were rickshaw pullers and porters.
