Crane Working Near White House Topples

WASHINGTON —
A construction crane pouring concrete next to the White House toppled Thursday, slightly injuring the operator and sending part of the boom through a basement window of the adjacent Treasury Department, officials said.
The area on the east side of the White House is being landscaped to turn the one-time parking area and street into a pedestrian mall.
