Perceptronics Attributes Gains to Defense Work

Perceptronics said its profit rose 140% to $831,486, or 23 cents a share, in the fiscal year ended March 31, in part because of an increase in its defense business.

The Woodland Hills-based firm, which makes simulators that troops use to learn how to operate tanks, armored vehicles and helicopters, said its revenue rose 86% over the year, to $29.0 million.

In the fourth quarter, the company’s earnings climbed 246% to $330,493, or 9 cents a share, from a year earlier. Revenue rose 69% to $7.9 million.

Separately, the company announced it registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission to offer 1.3 million shares of common stock to the public. Another 73,800 shares are expected to be offered by Diversified Technologies, a limited partnership that invested in the company.
