SDSU’s Farmer to Coach U.S. Team

Dixon Farmer, men’s track and field coach at San Diego State, will lead a U.S. contingent of college athletes, including SDSU sprinter Aaron Thigpen, in a dual meet against Great Britain Friday in Newcastle, England.

Farmer, the Western Athletic Conference track Coach of the Year, will guide the U.S. team, made up of athletes who were collegiate champions in their respective conferences this year. The team will include 1984 Olympic silver medalist and National Collegiate Athletic Assn. 400-meter hurdles champion Danny Harris of Iowa State.

Thigpen, who was the WAC champion this season in the 100 meters (10.02), will compete in the 200 meters and run the first leg of a sprint relay.
