Florence Halop, who plays a bailiff on the television comedy “Night Court,” was hospitalized in serious condition for treatment of cancer and a stroke, a spokeswoman said. Halop, who plays bailiff Florence Kleiner on the show, was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last week, said Maggie Begley, spokeswoman for Warner Bros. Television, which co-produces the show with NBC. “She is in serious but stable condition,” Begley said. “She is awake and alert.” Begley said Halop, 64, suffered a stroke and is partially paralyzed on her right side. “She is currently receiving radiation treatment for the cancer,” which is not confined to any particular organ, Begley added. Reinhold Weege, the show’s executive producer, has made no changes in the scripts for the fall season, because he does not know how Halop’s illness will affect production, scheduled to begin July 21, Begley said. Selma Diamond, who played court matron Selma Hacker on the show, died of cancer in May, 1985.
