Remembering Korean War Veterans

Share

Thank you for publishing the letter from Charles Hearn. He exactly expresses the sentiments my wife and I have shared for more than 30 years.

I was a boat group commander on an attack transport that carried troops from Japan to landings at Inchon, Pusan and others. My wife was a Navy flight nurse who airlifted the wounded out of Korea. We both were at our “jobs” for three years.

It is not for ourselves that we are concerned but for the 54,000 killed, the 100,00 wounded and the more than 8,000 missing in action who have never been accorded any recognition by our federal government.

As a result of Hearn’s letter we are writing to Sens. Alan Cranston, and Pete Wilson about S1223 and our congressman to inquire about H2205 and H2588, and we hope that others who were involved in the “police action” will write to them also. It is time!
