Ground Breaking for Peking Hotel Set for September
Ground will be broken in mid-September for the $30-million Beijing Hotel Asia, a hotel/apartment/office joint-venture project of World China Trade Inc. and Beijing Light Industrial Product Union, according to Yu Xue Wen, president of the former firm.
The hotel will be built in central Peking, adjacent to the Workers Gymnasium and Workers Stadium, and is expected to be in operation during the first quarter of 1988. Project architects are Arthur Kwok & Associates of Hong Kong and Beijing Design Institute, while Houston-based CRS Sirrine Inc. will provide construction supervision to augment the Chinese contracting group.
Hotel management will be by a joint venture between Grandmetropolitan International Services Ltd. of England and Fung Ping Fan Food Services Ltd. of Hong Kong. Financing is by Standard Charter Asia Ltd. World China Trade has offices at 273 S. Almont Drive, Beverly Hills.
