Assembly’s Vote on Tom Hayden

Since when can’t we Americans protest the action of our government if we don’t agree with those action? In their a free country or not?

Tom Hayden protested against the Vietnam war, as did millions of Americans, because it was an immoral and illegal war. Are all of us traitors? If I had had the time and money to go to Vietnam to protest in those days, I would have, too. Instead I had to stay home and protest in a quieter way.

Hayden has demonstrated normal human growth towards maturity. Twenty years ago he was actively protesting what he found unacceptable policy. Now he is a politician working with his government to realize policy that he believes in.

Isn’t this what makes America a great nation? I think so.

The people who call him traitor for this are exposing themselves as immature, frightened and intimidated men indeed, and I would be inclined to question whether they are capable of fair action while holding public office.

Thank goodness for people like Hayden in government. If I thought that the only people in government were right-wing buffoons like Dornan and Ferguson, I would certainly lose hope of our great country remaining free.

My message to Dornan and Ferguson is: You are showing yourselves to be the true bullies on the block.” Leave Tom Hayden alone. Stop wasting our tax dollars and our precious time with your right-wing ranting and get down to the business of government. Take care of the pressing problems for which you were elected.
