The AIDS virus has been found in seven so-called hospitality girls in the Philippine town of Dau near Clark Air Base, prompting fears of a major outbreak.

The Manila Times reported Monday that the virus associated with acquired immune deficiency syndrome was found in tests conducted by Philippine authorities and the U.S. Navy.

Officials said two of the women have been located while the other five remain at large. The two acknowledged having sexual intercourse with U.S. clients, the newspaper said.

AIDS, for which no cure is known, weakens the body’s defenses against infection. It is believed to be transmitted through sexual contact or contact with infected blood.
