It was the first time the disease has been found in a mature, fruit-producing grove since the plant-killing disease was detected in 1984, Florida agriculture officials said. The disease, which is not harmful to humans, has infected about 150 acres of trees at a 360-acre grove in Manatee County, which is on the Gulf Coast, said Sal Alfieri, director of the Division of Plant Industry.
