The Region : Vote Fraud Trial Ordered

Share

Compton City Councilman Floyd James and his campaign manager were ordered to stand trial on charges that they tried to buy votes in James’ successful reelection bid in June, 1985. James and Roderick Wright were also charged with election fraud when indicted by the county grand jury last December on two state election code violations and conspiracy to violate the state political reform act. All three counts are felonies. The two men were ordered to stand trial on the charges after a two-day preliminary hearing before Municipal Judge Xenophon Lang in Los Angeles. They remain free on their own recognizance and face a Superior Court arraignment July 16. Both have denied the charges.
