Peru Drug Center Overrun by Police

LIMA, Peru — A cocaine overlord’s fortress was overrun by paramilitary police in an airborne assault in the northern Peruvian jungle, Lima newspapers said Friday.
El Comercio and La Republica said U.S.-funded police aboard Peruvian air force helicopters this week stormed the fort of a trafficker identified only as Machi, near Uchiza, 400 miles from the capital.
