U.S. Beats Greece in Water Polo, 16-5

Jody Campbell, former Stanford star, had four goals Saturday to help the U.S. water polo team defeat Greece, 16-5, for its fourth straight victory at the Six Nations Tournament at Seville, Spain.

Terry Schroeder (Pepperdine) and James Bergeson (Stanford) each added three goals and John Vargas (UC Irvine) scored twice for the U.S. team, which plays Spain today for the championship.

Spain and the United States are both 4-0 and have accumulated eight points (two for each victory) in the round-robin tournament. In other matches Saturday, Yugoslavia beat Canada, 13-3, and Spain beat France, 11-9.

From Spain, the U.S. team will travel to Moscow for the Goodwill Games but it will be without the services of UC Santa Barbara’s Greg Boyer, who broke his hand Saturday.
