Supreme Court Sex Decision

Share

The Supreme Court has typically missed the point. Although the Hardwick case dealt specifically with homosexuals, the Georgia law in dispute did not exclude heterosexuals--even married ones--from possible prosecution. In my estimation, every other married couple in America could conceivably go to jail if they had the misfortune of living in Georgia!

The court also missed an opportunity to bring American law into the 20th Century by reaffirming the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness by consenting adults who injure no one. Legal regulations in the bedroom are ridiculous and will not be heeded. Far from “improving” the morality of the public, this ruling will serve to dilute respect for the law.
