Officials at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York agreed to cooperate with an investigation of why a paranoid psychotic was released from the hospital two days before he went on a rampage with a sword on a Staten Island ferry, killing two persons and injuring nine others. Mayor Edward I. Koch ordered the investigation into the release of Juan Gonzalez, 43, a homeless Cuban refugee who came to the United States from Cuba in the Mariel boat lift of 1977. One victim has been released from St. Vincent’s Medical Center, and four were in stable condition.
