The birth of quadruplets to a Knights Landing woman was revealed by Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento. One infant, a girl, died two days after birth June 27. The others, two girls and a boy, were in critical but stable condition on respirators. Kristine Stice said doctors told her in April that she was carrying quadruplets, which occur once in 70,000 births. “It was either cry or laugh, and I chose laughing,” she said. The babies were delivered by Caesarean section after 26 1/2 weeks of pregnancy. They weighed from 1 pound 5 ounces to 2 pounds. Stice, a clerk-typist for the secretary of state, and her husband, Kit, who works for Pacific Gas & Electric Co., have one other son, Casey, 3. The survivors are named Nicole Michelle, Ashley Hope and Scott Ryan. The infant who died was named Caitlin Elizabeth.
