Belcor Reports Net Loss of $32,000 for 2nd Quarter

Belcor Inc. reported a net loss of $32,000 for the fiscal second quarter ended April 30, compared to a net loss of $91,000 in the same quarter a year ago.

The Irvine oil and gas exploration company posted revenue of $2.3 million for the quarter, contrasted with $307,000 recorded in the three-month period a year ago.

In the first six months of fiscal 1986, the company posted a $41,000 gain, contrasted with a profit of $353,000 in the year-ago period, which included an extraordinary gain on restructuring debt of $427,200. Revenue for the first half of this year rose sharply to $3.4 million from $508,558 in the same period a year ago.

A company spokesman attributed the six-fold increase in revenue to two recent acquisitions: A L Industries Inc., a Santa Ana maker of specialized metal parts, and Aargus Polybag Co., a Chicago-based polyethylene bag maker.
