Bad Converters Lead to New Recall by GM

WASHINGTON — General Motors Corp. will recall 53,000 Buick and Oldsmobile cars from the 1983 model year because of catalytic converters that can become plugged and reduce engine power, the Environmental Protection Agency said Wednesday.
The agency said it would be the last in a series of recalls covering 2.3 million cars produced in the 1981-1983 model years, all for essentially the same problem.
