Angels Really Do Exist but Are Unseen, Pope Says
Pope John Paul II said Wednesday that angels really do exist but that they have been misunderstood throughout history.
“The angels are those creatures which are unseen. They are invisible for they are purely spiritual beings,” the Pope said during his weekly general audience in St. Peter’s Square.
He said there has been confusion about angels throughout history, noting that in the times of Christ the Sadducees did not believe in them and and that later, materialists and rationalists also denied their existence.
“But all of the church’s tradition is unanimous in affirming that they do exist,” the pontiff said.
