THE ITALIAN WARS

Share

In response to Laheen Gallo’s (second) letter of hatred of Italians, a hatred which I find more pathetic than pathological (Calendar Letters, July 6):

I’m fully aware that we Italians haven’t contributed a single thing to the rest of the world--specially your little world in . . . how do you call it? . . . Ontario, yes.

I’m glad to find out that Thunderbird wine is far superior than a bolla, and that a Pinto is 10 times more reliable than a Maserati or Lamborghini.

Not to mention films. Why a Bob Fosse or a Woody Allen would copy an old hag like Fellini . . . remains a mystery.

Anybody who spends months in Italy is able to only detect its shortcomings, without at least noticing its art, architecture, music and alive people, deserves my deepest compassion. My sincere condolences to your husband.
