EX-NBC CHIEF TO HEAD TV OFFICE

Robert E. Mulholland, former president and chief executive officer of NBC, has been named to succeed Roy Danish as director of the Television Information Office, a spokesman for the New York-based industry association said Monday.

Danish is leaving the office after 27 years to become a communications consultant.

Mulholland, 52, who spent 16 years of his career at NBC in news, had been with NBC nearly 23 years when he resigned from the company in March, 1984. He never has made public the reasons for his resignation.

Since leaving NBC, Mulholland has worked as a consultant to television station groups on news programming and worked with the Executive Television Workshop, a New York company that advises businessmen and others on how to deal with radio and television reporters. He also has held seminars in Europe--on behalf of the United States Information Agency--for foreign journalists on the subject of American broadcasting.

Mulholland, who had been under consideration to head the USIA, said in a brief telephone interview from New York that he probably will start work at the Television Information Office in early August.

The office is supported by the three major networks, about 200 television stations, and the National Assn. of Broadcasters.
