AIDS Victims, Discrimination

Congratulations on your timely and courageous editorial on AIDS. At a time when so many are encouraging and condoning homosexuality as well as bisexuality and sexual promiscuity, the editorial may wake up some of our misguided citizens and public officials who are either indifferent to the growing problem or support such life styles, which is certainly at the very root of this expanding menace to our health. The real issue was well stated and your solution to this vital problem deserves serious attention and action.

Indeed, as you so well stated, “Stopping AIDS requires changing private behavior that is driven by deep biological urges,” urges which can be controlled and channeled into constructive activities by sublimation. In your conclusion in the excellent editorial, you emphasized, “The government needs to spend whatever it takes to drive the message home to everyone in the high-risk group for AIDS: Behavior must be changed. This is a matter of life and death.”

I feel that the above needs to be stressed more often so that ultimately the message will be seen and heard by more members in government and the people who feel that there is no need for the change of their counterproductive sexual behavior, which results in tragic byproducts and is becoming the leading cause of deaths in some segments of our population. The price of sexual promiscuity and perversion is far too high to pay.
