Old Inner-City Schools ‘Survive and Thrive’
Scheer’s fine article on his old schools in The Bronx brought me a mixture of sadness and joy.
I grew up just across Pelham Parkway from his Allerton Avenue neighborhood and I, too, attended Christopher Columbus High School and City College (though at the downtown Manhattan campus). His story brought many memories back.
I am happy to know that he came away from his visit feeling optimistic about the future of our old schools.
