National police headquarters warned investigators Friday not to beat or otherwise breach the human rights of criminal suspects after four policemen were fired over allegations that a prisoner was sexually abused, police sources said.

State prosecutors said Wednesday that a policeman beat a 21-year-old woman dissident on the breasts, but they denied that she was sexually harassed during questioning last month.

At a news conference Friday, the woman’s lawyers accused the prosecution of covering up facts about what they called the “sex torture” of the woman, a former student.
