Guide to the U.K.

Share

We have just returned from a 3 1/2-week vacation in England, Wales and Scotland. We used a company that we read about in Jerry Hulse’s Travel Tips column last November, Guidelines U.K. We had the best vacation experience we have ever had.

We told Glenda Jones of Guidelines U.K. what we wanted to see, the kinds of accommodations we wanted and how much we wanted to spend. After a few letters back and forth, with changes and suggestions, we were set.

We were not prepared for what we got. She met us at the airport (I don’t know if she does this for everyone) and gave us our accommodations vouchers, including maps and directions in a folder and also another folder with very explicit and easy-to-follow daily driving instructions. She also included histories of the towns we would be traveling through, city maps and points of interest for our children ages 6 and 8. We received a large map to chart our daily route.

We stayed in farmhouses, an old rectory, a fisherman’s cottage a few steps from the ocean, a 12th-Century thatched cottage, traditional homes and an Edwardian mansion with a 15th-Century castle attached.

We highly recommend Glenda and her company to anyone planning a trip to the United Kingdom. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. The address is Guidelines U.K., Samuel Cottage, 5 Moors Lane, Oreton near Cleobury Mortimer, Worcestershire DY14 8RH, England.
