Publication Closes Gap in Construction Information

Share

Thanks to a joint effort by the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and Western Economic Research Co. Inc., a Southland construction information gap has been eliminated.

The chamber and the Encino-based firm have started publication of monthly and quarterly Major Construction Project Reports, listing building permits with valuations of $500,000 and more in 10 Southern California counties.

The information was published by Security Pacific National Bank in its monthly “California Construction Trends” reports, but was discontinued last January, according to Michael Long of Western Economic Research.

Counties covered are Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Imperial, Kern, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura.

“This area has more than 200 incorporated cities and accounts for more than 60% of California’s population, business and industry,” Long said, adding that an annual subscription costs $300 for 12 monthly and four quarterly reports. The firm is at 15910 Ventura Blvd., Suite A-8, Encino 91436.

The annual subscription for members of the chamber of commerce is $198, while monthly reports are $13 and quarterly reports are $50. The chamber’s address for ordering reports is P.O. Box 3696, Terminal Annex, Los Angeles 90051-1696.

For each listing, the report shows the site address, including ZIP Code; a description of the project; the number of housing units and the valuation of the permit and the name and address of the permittee.
