B of A filed a countersuit against the Hunts.

The bank's suit was a response to a $3.6-billion claim filed last month by Texans Nelson Bunker Hunt, William Herbert Hunt and Lamar Hunt and two of their oil drilling firms. The Hunts contend that 23 major U.S. banks used fraud and deception to "dominate and destroy" Hunt-owned Penrod & Placid Drilling Co. In its federal court counterclaim, Bank of America seeks repayment of more than $76 million in outstanding debt.
