Acquisition Expected to Lower Powertec Earnings

Chatsworth-based Powertec said its earnings for fiscal 1986, which ends Oct. 31, will likely be $1.6 million to $1.9 million, or 60 to 70 cents a share, down from $2.5 million, 90 cents, in fiscal 1985.

Powertec said the slow turnaround at Semiconductor Circuits, a Windham, N. H., firm it acquired last Nov. 6, will reduce earnings by between $400,000 and $550,000, or 15 to 20 cents a share. It attributed the rest of the earnings reduction to a continuing slump in the computer industry.

Powertec makes power supply systems for computers and telecommunications equipment. Semiconductor Circuits makes similar equipment for lower-wattage uses.
