1,400 Strike at Arms Plant in Minnesota

FRIDLEY, Minn. —
About 1,400 factory workers at the Northern Ordnance Division of FMC Corp. went on strike Monday in a contract dispute mainly over job reclassifications.
Members of Local 683 of the United Auto Workers voted 698 to 463 Sunday to reject a proposed three-year contract and go on strike. Northern Ordnance primarily manufactures shipboard gun systems and launching systems for the Navy.
