Reagan Policy in South Africa

Share

If the United States is to apply economic sanctions and other commercial prohibitions on South Africa because of that nation’s oppression of its blacks, should we be consistent and demand strict economic sanctions against the Soviet Union because it, too, like South Africa, practices oppression and cruelty?

Why is Soviet mistreatment of the blacks in Afghanistan, the whites in East Germany and the Jews in Russia more acceptable than the repressions in South Africa? Is apartheid more brutal, more inhumane than Soviet thought-suppression, Soviet labor camps, Soviet house arrests?
