Montebello : Trustees Raise Their Pay
Montebello Unified School District school board members have given themselves a monthly pay increase of $200.
Board members voted 4-1, with Darrell H. Heacock dissenting, to raise their salary from to $600, retroactive to July 1.
In August, 1984, state law permitted school boards to raise their salaries for the first time in more than 10 years. Under the law, the salary limit is tied to the average daily attendance of the district.
The Montebello district, with about 27,000 students, has a limit of $750. The last board raise was January, 1985, an increase from $200 to $400.
