The World : Korea Reform Unit Set Up

Share

Members of South Korea’s ruling and opposition parties formed a 45-member special parliamentary committee to push through constitutional revision and democratic reform. The committee is composed of 23 government party members and 22 opposition legislators. Since February, the major opposition New Korea Democratic Party and dissident groups have pressed demands to replace the indirect presidential election system with a direct ballot.
