Not a Spy
A Times headline (July 25) reads: “Whitworth Convicted as Soviet Spy.”
Jerry A. Whitworth is not a Soviet spy.
The Soviet agents who bought Whitworth’s material are spies. They were doing their job, very efficiently.
Whitworth is not a spy, but a traitor. Espionage is honorable. Treason is not.
