The Administration said that for the first time, the United States will channel financial aid to the Israeli-occupied West Bank through the government of Jordan despite conflicting Israeli and Jordanian claims to sovereignty over the territory. Previous U.S. aid for the West Bank was funneled through private organizations such as the Red Cross.
