Treizieme, the only female in a 12-horse field, used a burst of speed at the top of the stretch to rally for a 1 1/2-length victory over longshot Honor Medal in the $150,000 Canterbury Turf Classic at Canterbury Downs in Shakopee, Minn.
Ridden by Chris McCarron, trained by John Gosden and owned by Thomas Tatham’s Houston-based Oak Cliff Stables, Treizieme won $111,600, including $21,600 in Breeders’ Cup awards.
