Eckhardt and Chandler Vows Recited

Miss Cathleen Chandler and Terry Eckhardt exchanged marriage vows at Chaminade Whitney in Santa Cruz following a weekend wedding celebration that brought guests together for a Day on the Bay at Aptos and a Mexican Fiesta in Soquel.

The sports-oriented couple will embark on a cycling trip through the Alps and will reside at Rancho Cathelegnos in Soquel on their return from Europe.

The bride, a fifth-generation Californian, is a triathlete and physical therapist for Fleming II in Santa Cruz. She was presented at the Las Madrinas debutante ball in 1972, attended Mayfield and Westridge schools and was graduated from UC Santa Cruz.

Her parents are Mrs. Malcolm Stuart of Los Angeles, an urban planner and president of Marilyn Brant & Associates, and Otis Chandler, former publisher of the Los Angeles Times and chairman of the Executive Committee of Times Mirror Co.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland J. Eckhardt of Magalia, Calif.

A graduate of UC Berkeley, Terry Eckhardt received his teaching credentials from San Jose State University and is currently a high school science teacher in north Monterey County. He also serves as director of Educational Horizons.

The bride was attired in a Victorian-style lace dress and wore her mother’s lace bridal cap. She was attended by her sister, Carolyn Chandler, as maid of honor, and her bridesmaids included Katie Clarke, Sarah Weller, Laurel Herter, Kay Heizman, Jenny Sterling, Sharon Erspamer and Carol Dickerson.

Eckhardt’s best man was Bruce Leahy and ushers included his son by a former marriage, Leon Eckhardt; his two brothers, Dennis and Todd Eckhardt; Bryan Wall; and the bride’s three brothers, Harry, Norman and Michael Chandler.

About 250 joined in the wedding festivities. They included the Rev.
