A hockey goaltender who took part in the just-concluded U.S. Olympic Festival at Houston pleaded guilty to burglarizing a vehicle and was sentenced to a five-year probation and fined $1,000.
In a plea bargain with prosecutors, Richard Anthony Burchill of West Roxbury, Mass., and the University of New Hampshire pleaded guilty to a felony charge of burglary of a motor vehicle. A misdemeanor charge of evading arrest was dismissed, and State District Judge Jim Keeshan said Burchill will not have a record if he completes the terms of probation.
Burchill, arrested last week after University of Houston police saw him break into a car and steal a radio, also agreed to pay the car’s owner, Rajendra Naik, $516.40.
After the incident, Burchill, 19, was barred from competing in the Festival.
