One soldier was killed and 14 people were injured as more fighting erupted along the Green Line that divides Beirut into Christian and Muslim sectors. Gunners in Muslim West Beirut fired three mortar rounds into the Christian eastern sector, prompting retaliatory fire that resulted in a three-hour exchange of rocket-propelled grenades and mortar and heavy machine-gun fire, according to security sources.
