Wisconsin awarded AT&T; a $200-million contract.
The 10-year contract calls for AT&T; to provide Wisconsin with its own voice and data network, tying together all governmental and state university telecommunications in about 1,800 locations across the state. The system will include a computer-based network management center similar to those used by AT&T; in its nationwide long-distance service. Installation of the basic voice network is to be completed by December, 1986, and the statewide data network by August, 1987.
