A Death Row prisoner who escaped from Stephens County Jail was in custody Friday after officers shot out the tires of the pickup truck he used to run a roadblock, police said.

Richard Donald Foster, 38, was arrested after a four-mile chase late Thursday. He had eluded scores of officers and bloodhounds in the rough terrain around Possum Kingdom Lake since Sunday night.

Palo Pinto Chief Deputy Harmon Watts said Foster was returned to the state prison at Huntsville. He had been in the county jail pending trial on a kidnaping charge.
