THE ‘80s, CONT.

Share

After reading your features on the best films of the ‘80s (“ ‘80s Movies--Trash and Treasures,” July 27), and the related letters in Calendar (Aug. 3), my wife and I find it incredible that no one has said a word about Clint Eastwood’s films of the ‘80s.

Three come to mind: “Bronco Billy,” “Sudden Impact” and “Pale Rider.” One is whimsical, one gut-wrenching and the third is mystical. All three celebrate a character who is true to himself. And all three are, in our opinion, far superior to many of the films mentioned.

What do Hollywood critics and Los Angeles movie buffs have against someone who, in real life, also is true to himself? Or should we even bother asking?
