Security forces raided a farmhouse outside Jullundur in the Indian state of Punjab and arrested three Sikh extremists, including India’s top fugitive who is wanted for terrorism, police said. Authorities identified the fugitive as Manbir Singh Chaheru, 29, commander in chief of the Khalistan Commando Force, the largest of several terrorist groups fighting for an independent Sikh state in the Punjab. Authorities also arrested the owner of the farmhouse, former army Maj. Baldev Singh Ghuman and two other extremists, Charanjit Singh and Santokh Singh. The raiders seized a light machine gun and four rifles. Julius F. Rebeiro, director general of the Punjab police, has described Manbir Singh as “the biggest killer in India today.”
