Sales of New Homes Soar in San Bernardino

Share

New-housing sales in western San Bernardino County more than doubled from the first quarter of 1986 to the second quarter, from 793 to 1,740, while sales in the eastern part of the county increased 87.8% to 2,220 units, according to “Residential Trends,” a quarterly housing report by Market Profiles, Costa Mesa.

The dramatic increase in sales is due to falling interest rates, healthy economic growth and strong demand for housing in the county, according to Fred Schlosser, marketing director for the report.

San Bernardino County is single-family home country: In the western part of the county, 72.6% of new-home sales in the second quarter were single-family detached and in the eastern part of the county, the total rose to 96% for the second quarter.
